The Skye Rangers Brigade has a long tradition of service and loyalty to House Steiner through four long and grueling Succession Wars spanning hundreds of years. Once again civil war threatens the Great Houses of the Inner Sphere. Our Mechwarriors have been called home, allies will be chosen, enemies vanquished, and battles fought on distant worlds under far off suns...the Federation of Skye will now decide its destiny...
Welcome to the Home Base of the Skye Rangers, located on the dark and beautiful planet Summer, within the Federation of Skye.
It is my honor to announce the selection of KM Dyvim Slorm, BCOM in the 22nd Skye Rangers, as 'Mechwarrior of the Month for October. We kind of slipped September, so I am announcing this a week early this go around.
August 18th, 3064 Tomans, system along the Lyran-Falcon border
In the midst of the ensuing FedCom Civil War, word of attacks by the Jade Falcons along the Commonwealth border have escalated completely along it. With House Steiner preoccupied with Davion forces, not many regular line forces were available to divert for defences. The Gray Death Legion had been contracted to intercept the Jade Falcons on Tomans, although the actual size of the Falcon's numbers were unknown. Three lances were committed to this mission, though two 'mechs from the recon lance had been ordered to monitor the area surrounding the drop ship. The remainder made their way further inland to Nav Point Alpha.
“Everyone on passive sensors. Zed, Maurader, break off and search for enemy contact”, COL Sevronis ordered as he watched the two light 'mechs head out in opposite directions. “Keep exposure to a minimum you two.” “Roger”, came the reply from them both, vanishing into tree lines. “Bravo lance, fan out to the right, Alpha lance has the left. Stay alert and report any movement no matter how minimal”, the colonel added. “We have no clue how many there are.” “It's too quiet. I don't like this one bit”, Aerei commented. “But that's part of the fun!”, exclaimed Black Caimen. “Keeps you on your toes.” “I'd rather keep my toes,” added Griffster. “Cut the chatter and focus,” interrupted Sevronis. Suddenly a short series of explosions were heard in the distance. “Colonel, hostiles engaging local defenses”, came Maurader's voice over the comms. “I count six enemy 'mechs in visual range.” "They have four assaults at least", added Zed. "That base is taking a beating." “Roger, keep on passive everyone. We're on the move.”
The mercenaries came upon the ridgeline above the battlefield where a Lyran base was under siege. Sevronis glanced his view about. “Two stars. The rest must've joined in since the report”, he commented, maneuvering his BLK-6-KNT over to a more manageable slope. “Move in behind them. I doesn't look like they spotted us yet.” “That base doesn't look like it has many defenders left.“, came Nieje's voice. “I see a full lance of 'mechs already down.” “Max throttle, engage active sensors and fire at will.”, commanded Sevronis “Bravo lance, engage their ranged. Alpha lance is moving to engage the assasults. Recon, try to nail them in their rears.” “Roger!”, came a unanimous reply from everyone. The Clanners picked up the radar signatures of the mercs, but barely had enough time to compensate before getting struck by a bombardment of ballistic and missiles. The sneak attack managed to greatly damage the Falcon 'mechs enough to garner full attention. All according to plan. The Lyran defenses finally got some breathing room to fall back and regroup. The Falcons began their counterattack, responding with their own flurry of fire at their new opponents.
“Mercanary scum!”, came a transmission from Falcon commander. “You dare face the Falcon's talons?! You will be destoyed!” “Not the first time I've heard that,” retorted Sevronis. “Don't make promises I know you won't keep.” “Know your place!,” shouted the Falcon commander in reply. At that moment, Sevronis seemed to be the only one taking fire. “I think I know why you always get targeted first, boss”, remarked Shamansky. “I'm starting to see it too.”, added Pentad. “You have a way with words.” “And here I was thinking I had gotten famous.”, Sevronis grunted as all he could do was keep his 'mech moving and spread out the incoming damage. “Keep up on their flank!”
Clan pride may have focused their anger, but that same pride allowed them to be surrounded. Didn't help that these mercs were trained in destroying Clan 'mechs. Radio chatter exploded over the Clan comms as three of them went down from side torso destruction. Sevronis' Black Knight was somehow still standing, its left side and right arm missing, as well as the left leg. Zed and Maurader swept in from behind with a Phoenix Hawk and Spider respectively, and let loose. They fired all they had, coring out what was left the rear center torsos of a Falcon Hellbringer and Mad Dog. The Falcons let up on the Black Knight, finally taking the hint, but it was too late at this point. Black Caimen, piloting his Thanatos managed a miraculous headshot on an enemy Warhawk, as well as finishing off two others that were crippled all by himself. The remaining two Falcons in Night Gyrs tried to fight their way out of being surrounded, but all they could do was take fire from all directions. Despite the return damage they were able to dish out to the surrounding mercs, Shamansky swung around in his Griffin, destroying the remaining left torso of one, and the remaining right leg of the other. The battle was won.
“Well done, all of you.”, Sevronis remarked over comms. “Let's check in with the Lyrans for a debrief. I'll send for the dropship for repairs. We might need to stick around for a while just in case.” "You don't look so good there, Sevronis.", remarked Aerei with a smirk. "Shut up Aerei.", the colonel replied with a grunt.

Greetings, Rangers! How about a try to make faction warfare great again on coming friday, february 8th? Gonna start droppin late evening EU-time, droppin late into night/morning and would luv to see some of the old lads around! Bring AMS + RadarDerp!
MWOWC EU-Team: today seems to be the last opportunity to grab em prices for participation in the MWOWC. So in case you CAN attend tonight, it would be appreciated highly! I want at least one EON-component as a hanging cockpit item!
You kids with your newfangled toys! Back in my day, we had to push the AC grenades into the enemy armor by mech-hand! Our cockpits never went below 40° Celsius and our lasers went PEEEWW instead of pewpewpewpewpew!
Also important thing for those who didn't know. After this patch you can now take any mech from mechbay into training grounds with unsaved loadout. Bascially allowing you to try out different builds/skills without spending cbills/xp.
Hey William! Nice to have ye back! Can you invite Gri3f3r and CrashSteel into the academy please so they have a bigger bunch of ppl to play with? Pretty nice folks from what I have seen until now. Thx!
Tonight (EU-Time): Team Bravo does MWOWC18 drops to get the games needed for prices! Show up + participate, so we can spread PGI's blessings between as many Rangers as possible. Check the thread in TacCom-Subforum, contact via PM or show up on TS!
