The sight of Battlemechs lumbering across the terrain is a familar one
amount the worlds of the Inner sphere. Nevertheless, the sight of an
AS7-D Atlas will still manage to make even experienced Mechwarriors
break out in a sweat and brings the bitter taste of bile to their mouth.
The Atlas was designed as a last-ditch attempt to ensure the superiority
of the Star League's Regular Army over the growing armies of the House
Lords. It was an understandable reaction to the Cameron edicts passed
from 2751 to 2761 by the High Council, which permitted the five Lords'
to double the size of their personal armies. General Kerensky himself
set down the specifications for the Atlas. He said that it should be "a
Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly
and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally
The AS7-D Atlas was armed with a multitude of weapons for both long and
short range combat. For long ranges, the 'Mech carried a Doombud LRM-20
that allowed it to fire both directly at an enemy target at long range
and to give indirect fire support when needed. For close range combat,
the 'Mech was armed with a Deathgiver Autocannon/20 and four Hellion-V
Medium Lasers which could eviscerate any 'Mechs who dared to come into
close combat range. Finally, to take advantage of weakened areas of an
enemy's armor, the Atlas carried a Thunderstroke SRM-6 launcher
One of the Lyran Commonwealth's preferred 'Mechs to equip with a Command
Console. The AS7-D-DC is a modification of the AS7-D that equips the
newly reintroduced Command Console. This piece of equipment enhances the
MechWarrior's command and control capability. To make room for this,
Two Medium Lasers and a ton of ammo are removed. Also notable, is this
Mechs ability to carry an ECM.
Although the -D-DC looks like a minor downgrade fron the AS7-D, players
will find the extra Missile Hardpoint and the ECM capability quide
useful. Allowing for a stealthy ambush or LRM rain build.
Can mount a Guardian ECM Suite
Has 3 Module Slots instead of 2 found on most 'Mechs.
No CT Energy Hardpoints
AS7-K - A 3050's Combine upgrade of the Atlas that used rediscovered
Star League technology, the K model was built with an XL Engine that
reduced the weight of the engine by half. The 'Mech was rearmed for long
range combat, carrying an Imperator Dragon's Fire Gauss Rifle and a
Shigunga LRM-20. These were backed up by a pair of Victory Nickel Alloy
ER Large Lasers, which allowed the AS7-K to keep an enemy at range,
though the use of single heat sinks caused swift heat buildup if both
lasers are fired repeatedly. For close range defense, the K model
carried two Victory Heartbeat Medium Pulse Lasers and a Yori Flyswatter
Anti-Missile System. Finally, CASE had been added to the side torsos to
protect against an ammunition explosion.
Comes with a number of advanced technologies
Can mount twin AMS
Slow speed and turn rate
Hard to hit smaller 'Mechs in front of it with torso mounted weapons
Fewer weapon hardpoints than any other Atlas model
AS7-RS A Succession Wars era take on the Atlas II's weapon loadout, the
AS7- RS replaces the stock AS7-D's larger autocannon and missile
launchers with an Autocannon/10, LRM-15 andSRM-4, and trades the four
medium lasers for a Large Laser mounted in each arm. The swap leaves the
armor levels, heat sinks and ammunition bays unchanged.
Double the arm mounted Energy Hardpoints (no CT energy Hardpoints)
One less Ballistic Hardpoint
The Atlas AS7-BH "Boar's Head" is a Hero variant of the Atlas. It benefits from the 30% C-Bill Bonus provided by all Hero Mechs.
Faster than any other stock Atlas
Large number of energy hardpoints
Slightly reduced torso and arm twist.
Can run hot
