New suggested MW4 and MW4: BK mech designs for ADL...
GN Arturus' Sunder (uses Clan tech)
4 ER LG Lasers
6 ER Med Lasers
ECM
AMS
Speed 68
Max Armor (Ferro-Fibrous)
I been using this design for ~2 months now. It's a solid design but
runs a bit hot like Raven's Sunder below. I have placed 2 ER LG Lasers
in wpns group 2 and 3 with the 6 med lasers in group 1. I have noticed
the same effect of knocking my target's aim off with each ER LG Laser hit
(chain fire is REALLY effective here if you group all 4 ER LG Lasers into
one wpns group). By spacing out firing of the groups every 2-3 secs., the effect
is quite dramatic. I have consistently been #1 or #2 in team Zone play
(Team Attrition and Team Abs Attrition). A similar effect (w/ less
range and heat buildup) can be achieved using IS tech with 4 LG Lasers and 6
Med lasers. You would have more tonnage available for speed and
possibly light amplification. Enjoy !

This league makes it more difficult to design mechs since IS chassis are restricted
to IS weapons, but here's a solid design:
Sunder "Broken"
4 LXPLS (two in torso, and two in left arm)
Full Special armor but none in right arm, none in head, and whatever you can fit in the legs after you put on
29 heat sinks and go (speed) 68.
The strategy is to chain fire the bad boy. Since the Large xpulse is broken, every time you hit them it will rock their torso and mess their aim up. So, you just chain fire as fast as possible, and hose them. If you use this in conjunction with good FS so you can get in range, they can't touch this bad boy. I haven't used it in any league drops yet, so I'm not quite sure on how to use it, but against rabble on NR servers it hoses. I've been
whooped more than once by someone driving one of these.
Thanatos
2 LXPLS
2 LGauss
ECM
69 speed
Full reflective (armor) but none on head, none on missile arm, and a little over half in legs, plus heat sinks in whatever tonnage is left. Runs a tad hot, but shreds anything you catch in the open. The LG allow you to rip laser boats when they can't hit you and missile boats as well.
Uziel Desertmaster
2 LBX10
2 Flamers
Speed 95
Now you have to decide if you want special armor or ferro. I think the extra durability is worth it myself. So, if you go with special, you have slightly less than half on legs and a little less than three fourths on the arms.
If you don't use ferro, add a medium laser to each arm, and pump up to max on arms.
This uziel is effective when used in swarms. Trust me, I've used it in league drops. They hose when employed with good Fire Support (FS) mech or two to keep them busy as you close. Don't use this on cold maps, but on normal and hot it rules.
These are two solid mechs that are tried and true. I don't know which one we'll use more since I don't know what the nature of the league is.
(i.e. what the tonnage will typically be for PA's). If heavy thanatai will be our main
mechs, if less then we'll be using Uzis. More tech later, I'm working on uzi
configs.
PS. Art, please let me know when you begin working on mech purchases. I want to work on this with you, since we don't need to be buying worthless mechs like Chimaera's;)
