Hail, Skye Rangers of the 4th SR, and guests!

RCOM's CORNER

* My impression is that the Skye Rangers are in a lull. Everyone in the unit needs to think about stepping up their activity. We have too much going for us to let it atrophy. This goes equally for me, and I challenge all SRs to meet this demand as well.

REGIMENT NEWS

* The big news from my perspective was the SR's TWL match last Saturday, and the message board conversation in its aftermath. If you have not read that thread, it is worth your time, to bring you up to speed on our TWL presence, and the challenges we face and solutions and ideas being proposed. Here is my post:

"TWL match, another learning experience I'm glad to see the enthusiastic posts by Eddy, Cybersolo, D-Raven and others. TWL combat is FUN, and we're trying to get better. As for Skunk's complaint that we are lousy at teamwork: That's correct. We're weak as a lance in combat. However, we are talking about taking steps to improve this. We intend to get better and we will, if we all work together. I hope we don't start cutting each other up. I would disagree with Eddy's assessment that he performed poorly Saturday. On the contrary -- as his lancemate, I can attest to how hard he fought! We should be proud of having showed up and fought to the death against rotten odds. I know for a fact that we put some hurt on the enemy that the enemy did not expect from such an outgunned unit. We fought well, under the circumstances.

As for my showing up late: Completely my fault, no excuse. I suffered a dyslexic moment about the time zones. Dumb inattention. As a result, I was not prepared with proper mechs. I ended up having to hurriedly select a mech and took into the first battle a Thor I had never piloted. Had I been prepared, I would have done better and therefore perhaps the outcome would have been different. Cybersolo got all of our kills in that battle. In the second fight, Gladiator Pit, I was ready with a tough Bushwhacker config. Finished with five kills and was the last SR standing. I took a couple of them with me at the end. I felt pretty good about that. Let's take the positive aspects of this fight and use them to mold ourselves into a more effective unit in future TWL matches. I believe pre-match communication is the key, in the weeks and days heading up to the match. The TAC should make sure all MWs have all salient details at all times, and not just on the MBs -- the info should go out by e-mail as well."

* Reminding, our 4th SR unit practices have been scheduled weekly at these times: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Thursday and 10 a.m. Eastern Sunday. Our practices normally are held in the Skye Rangers 4th Open server on the Zone. Arturus, I believe the Sunday practice time is listed incorrectly on the SR Combat Calendar -- please fix it when you get a chance :) .

* Servers. We have a dearth of dedicated servers. I have had trouble keeping my Skye Rangers 4th Open server alive. Looks like everyone else has too. Servers are a great recruiting tool, so server jockeys among us need to keep this dream alive.

* Roster status:

Gallows -- TWL match, Sunday 4th practice, Wednesday SR practice.

Shadow -- No contact, please report.

Jadua -- Assigned to Dropship Reserves. Jad lost his Internet connection and said he would return as soon as he could.

Eddy -- TWL match, seen online several times otherwise, participated in MBs. Reported that he wants to take a stronger role in the SR and he might seek transfer out of the 4th.

Hunter -- Reported in, and I think I remember seeing him online at one of the practices.

Ibram Gaunt -- No contact, please report.

That's it for now. See you on the battlefield!

3rd SR Report for Week of April 21, 2003
Date: 4/24/03 7:05:15 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: elmo708@hotmail.com

Dear Sirs,

Here is my weekly report for the 3rd Skye Rangers:

-RCOM/Baronet LT-GEN Dark Raven/3rd SR/Lance I/Masakari Kills:2,022  E-Mail:Elmo708@ameritech.net

-The web page is up and I am trying to actively communicate with my regiment using it. It is located @ http://www.anzibon.com/SR3
-I am working on making my server (2nd Skye Rangers Open) a TWL based server.

as far as my regiment is concerned:

-MW/SenSGM Jax/Lance I/Sunder Kills:1,171 E-Mail:drunk_ork@msn.com

Has posted no kills and has been inactive as far as zonestats is concerned for the last quarter. I had sent him an e-mail received a response and was told that he would be active. As of today he's is still not active. I will give him one more week before starting him on AWOL status.

-MW/SSGM ORION/Lance I/Awesome Kills:878 E-Mail:nbrown16@sbcglobal.net

Has been active (483 total MERCS Kills) but did not reply to my e-mail this week. He has not sent me a report as of yet, but has showed interest in fighting other regiments and in TWL.

-MW/SCP Bane442/Lance I/Black Knight Kills:38 E-Mail:hunt@techisp.com

Has been slightly active in the kills department, but did not respond to my e-mail of welcome or to my request for reports. However seeing as how he is a new mechwarrior I will not seek disciplinary action as of yet.

I have sent out numerous e-mails to my regiment to get them to send in there reports, but as of yet I have recieved none. I would appreciate a little e-mail from the command lance to my regiment giving them a little shove in the right direction. I also tried contacting PFC Black Dragon to get him active and point him in our direction, but his e-mail does not work and was sent back to me 3 times. I will try encouraging a few of the others.

In your service,

RCOM/LT-GEN Baron Dark Raven/3rd SR/Lance I/Masakari

MW/SG Direhound/Skye Provice Militia/Lance II/Sunder BK-Active no recorded kills this week.

On Monday I was unable to host the SPM practice but I hosted the Rangers practice on Wednesday and Saturday. We of the Militia were unavailable for the TWL drop as we were on Holiday Leave. On a side note, I was distressed to hear of Jad's transfer to the Dropship Reserves and would like to know if he could be placed in the Militia. Also, when tracking Reddog's kills they are logged under LCAF_Reddog1_SR.

We would also like to pledge our loyalty to Art and the Rangers of Skye.

3rd SR Weekly Report:  04.10.03
From: elmo708@hotmail.com

Dear Sirs,

Here is my weekly report for the 3rd Skye Rangers:

-RCOM/Baronet LT-GEN Dark Raven/3rd SR/Lance I/Masakari  E-Mail: Elmo708@ameritech.net
-I have been promroted to RCOM of the 3rd Skye Rangers
-I am currently working on a regimental page for the 3rd SR, thus my lack of play.

as far as my regiment is concerned:

-MW/SenSGM Jax/Lance I/Sunder E-Mail: drunk_ork@msn.com

Has posted no kills and has been inactive as far as zonestats is concerned for the last quarter. I sent him an e-mail lst week, but received no reply. I sent him a notice of the beginning of consideration for AWOL status and as of yet received no reply. He has 2 weeks before AWOL and 1 more before removal.

-MW/SSGM ORION/Lanc I/Awesome E-Mail: nbrown16@sbcglobal.net

Has been active (403 total MERCS Kills) and did reply to my e-mail last week. He has not sent me a report as of yet, but has showed interest in fighting other regiments and in TWL.

I will keep on him, and the rest of my regiment for timely and accurate reports. They are not used to it seeing as how up until now we haven't had a RCOM who cared or was missing before.

I would like to make a formal request for any, new recruits to be considered for placement in the 3rd SR. We are low in numbers and if JAX is not active even lower still. I know this has crossed your desk, via message board, so I will not beat it to death anymore. As always thank you for your decision in making me RCOM I intend to make the 3rd SR more prominet on the future weeks.

Hail, Skye Rangers of the 4th SR, and guests!

RCOM'S CORNER

* It's a nice feeling to be able to say that the 4th Skye Rangers was victorious in its recent regimental combat clash! Eddy and Hunter weighed in with good advice before the match against the 17th SR, and Eddy, Jadua and I were able to accomplish the mission. This is a good foundation for us as we continue to prepare for TWL and other regimental drops.

REGIMENT NEWS

* As mentioned, the 4th SR defeated the 17th SR, two games to none, in our challenge match on Sunday. We therefore earned the title "Summer's Swords." We were assisted by Winter of the Snord's Irregulars, while the 17th was joined by another skilled SI, Monkeyman. Both games were close, and it was a lot of fun. Perhaps the best thing was to see the game filled with SR nicks, all the participants plus observers!!

* I am planning to try to arrange another regimental competition in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for details.

* Speaking of combat, 17th SR RCOM Cybersolo, in the absence of the vacant SR TAC position, is arranging TWL drops for us. Any of you who wish to participate, please go to www.teamwarfare.com and join the Skye Rangers team.

* Reminding, our unit practices have been scheduled weekly at these times: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Thursday and 10 a.m. Eastern Sunday. Our practices normally are held in the Skye Rangers 4th Open server on the Zone.

* Visit the 4th Web site and please send more contributions if you care to. I'm hoping to spend more time on adding to the site this week: http://home.attbi.com/~hullbreach/skye/4sr.html

* All 4th members have reported in or been seen on the battlefield within the past week. I am glad to say the unit is active and moving forward.

That's it for now. See you on the battlefield!

On Monday I hosted SPM practice and I also hosted the Rangers practice on Wednesday. Our body count wasn't too stellar this week and I attribute that to the amount of mission play games we have been playing. Still, all in all we have had a lot of good fun this week. Hail, Skye Rangers of the 4th SR!

RCOM'S CORNER

* This week's musing, something I have been curious about. Does anyone know the answer to this for sure?: A lot of times when you get killed, you hear the warning, "Leg damaged, reverse disabled" as your mech is exploding (not before). Does this mean your killer legged you on the kill shot, or can it also be because of general damage from your mech's explosion?

* Speaking of legging -- I sure have been getting legged a lot. It really stood out in a game Wednesday night in which I was driving an Uller. Almost every time I bit it, I was slowly dragging a damaged leg before the enemy finished the job. I'm hoping it's just bad shooting because Ullers can be so hard to hit -- but the paranoid in me suspects I was being intentionally legged. I've trained myself well to aim for arms and torsos, but this stuff makes me want to start legging in kind >:( .

OK, enough of my ramblings, you say? On to news :)

REGIMENT NEWS

* Reminding, our unit practices have been scheduled weekly at these times: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Thursday and 10 a.m. Eastern Sunday. Our practices normally are held in the Skye Rangers 4th Open server on the Zone.

* Visit the 4th Web site and please send more contributions if you care to. Hunter sent in a nice splash image last week!: http://home.attbi.com/~hullbreach/skye/4sr.html

* HPT-GEN Cybersolo, RCOM of the 17th Skye Rangers, has accepted our challenge to a regimental duel! At this time it appears the match will be played at 10 a.m. Eastern, Sunday, April 6! All 4th members are urged to show up!! We need everyone who can make it! Assume the match will be played then -- if it is delayed, I will get word to you.

Here are other details of the match:

* The 4th will drop onto Summer to attack the 17th near its base.
* The following maps will be used in the drop: SandDunes, Tumbleweed and Paradise.
* We'll use the same rules as TWL drops (7 respawns, three rounds if needed, etc.).
* Suggested time: 10 a.m. eastern Sunday, April 6.
* If neither team is able to field 5 mechwarriors for the drop, smaller equal numbers will carry out the combat (such as, 3x3, 2x2, 4x4).
* Winning regiment of the competition will gain the honorary title "Summer's Swords" and will hold the honor until such time as it loses it
in a repeat engagement with another Skye Rangers line unit.

That's it for now. See you on the battlefield!

Snord's Irregulars Regimental Report
Date: 4/6/03 6:15:06 AM Eastern Daylight Time
From: tamas.horvath@hdsnet.hu

Sir Arturus,

Snord's are alive an kickin'.
Me and Monkey are still active now and then , defending Skye Ranger space from the rest of the Universe.

In numbers:
Monkey 905 kills , 66 kill/death percentage. Last game 6th of April.
Winter 2842 kills, 61 kill/death percentage. Last game 5th of April.

I'm sorry to have to say but Raven is totally inactive so I would have him transferred the the Drop Ship Reserves.

I the activity side... I would like to turn Snord's into the Euro Lance of the Skye Rangers , so we can have a place for all of the Euro MW's (at Camelot Command :-) and we can practice without the problem of different timezones, and hopefully challenge other Euro Teams in the near future.

If u like this restructuring idea, pls put out a newsletter for all SR , so any Euro MW who wants to be in the same Regiment can ask for the transferring to Snord's.

My working weekends are seams to ended , so I will arrange the Midel Weight Aces Of Skye Tournament sometime soon.

Salutes,

Best Regards,

See U soon on the Battlefield General, we miss U a lot!!!!
