Skye Rangers and UTS House Steiner Split due to "Irreconcilable Differences":  04.22.02

Contrary to the terms of the original offer to join the UTS House Steiner with our unit, ranks, medals, etc. intact, Archon Rasta, at the behest of his senior command, transmitted the following:

Arturus,

I've made a mistake in this whole situation. I feel this isn't going to work out.

I do not convict your wishes to stay as your specific unit, as a matter of fact, I understand all too well, especially as Archon of my unit.

I feel this isn't going to work out, however, I offer your pilots the option to join us as new cadets, and change nicks in game. I apologize for inconveniences this has caused...this is apparently one big SNAFU on my part. I appear to have overstepped my duties of Archon...:)

If you guys still wanna play with our unit, I invite you to join up like all other members. I've made a terrible error here, and I hope you can understand.

I thought we could work through this stuff, but I don't know about that anymore. I think it's best for us to split this off, and perhaps approach this another day.

I wish you luck, and perhaps we can work something out in the future.

Brigade Commander's Note:

This was basically over the Skye Rangers mechwarriors having to adopt House Steiner ranks, ID Lines, medals, etc.  Due to my unwillingness to change what WE have strived so hard to develop and what maintains our identity as an independent unit, it appear House Steiner no longer wants us...

Consequently, the Skye Rangers will be looking to stay independent for a while.  I will send an email to all Regiment Commanders and the Command Lance soon detailing my plans for the immediate future.  I am thinking less, but more active practices (even if I have to host them myself...:)  Also, we may want to offer our "services" to various leagues as "sparring partners".  Also, be advised I will be looking for more activity out of the RCOMs moving forward.

Firewalker also had a suggestion we rejoin UTS or another league as a mercenary unit...this may be the way we go...I need to sleep on it...:)

Skye Rangers Quit ADL League and Sign with UTS League/House Steiner...!

Fellow Mechwarriors:

I have negotiated with UTS League House Steiner (http://www.housesteiner.net/) to incorporate our unit into theirs (to some extent). This will take A LOT of pressure off of us to handle our own Automation and field all mechwarriors (5-10) required for a drop in the ADL league. They also have a VERY active membership (~33 MW4:BK players!). They are solely a MW4: BK based league taking place c.3060-3073. Unfortunately, I will have to drop us out of the ADL league at this time...I'd rather not, but we just can't field the # of warriors consistently that are needed to participate :(

Consequently, I will emailing "Archon Rasta" with our Command Lance and 4thSR Rosters and player info. We will be allowed to keep our own internal structure, medals, ranks, promotion systems, etc. Although UTS doesn't use ZoneStats, WE DO ! So, our Roster (and your promotions) will CONTINUE to be based on our existing system. They typically promote people like we do in the Emperor's Hammer...by merit/recommendation...not the # of kills, which I use in the SR exclusively. Therefore, I will be emailing him the names, ranks, email addresses, # of kills to date, preferred mech and my opinion of your fighting style to them to put on their Roster.

They will also be hosting a practice session for tomorrow (Sunday) night at 8-8:30 PM...I STRONGLY encourage those who can to make it...they sound like a fun group !!! They also appear to meet a couple of times per week...!!! All we have to do is show up once in a while ! :)

They also use their own IRC channel (#Meeting in Kaneda) where will meet before practice/combat drops. DETAILED instructions for joining their IRC channels are posted at:

I suggest ALL of you in the Command Lance and 4thSR get mIRC (http://www.mirc.com) and Roger Wilco (http://www.rogerwilco.com) if you don't already have them...You WILL need them !

A couple of cool things to note...1) We will be able to play just about any IS chassis (with Clan Tech as well !!!). 2) They are trending to the lighter mechs due to drop weight restrictions...I will try and work with them on this subject as I told them we already have alot of experience in the medium, heavy and assault chassis...that's our strength, just like good Lyrans...LOL More on this as I get familiar with their rules... 3) They will be using some of our medals system and some of our detailed historical and downloads info... 4) We may get mixed/matched during combat drops for them, as our troops are needed...I agreed this would not be a problem...so you may have a couple of us fighting in one drop and a couple others in another simultaneous one...each with different House Steiner or mercs for HS...too cool !

Also, note that essentially, we will be called the "4th SR" on their roster (they already have a 10th SR). Our internal Roster stays unchanged. Our current Command Lance and 4th SR will become a "Company" within UTS House Steiner for UTS drop/combat purposes.

For those of you in other Regiments, PLEASE get yourselves more involved. If you want to enter us into a MC2 or MW3 league, give it a shot...! Warrant Officers, PLEASE get going on an internal newsletter, pics, fiction, etc. (start with a Newsletter first please ! ). The Warrant Officers could also assist with getting more of our Profiles posted...it would also be GREAT if ANY of you would post some webpages...! :) And there is no reason why the some of you other guys can't get involved in their IRC/chat channel either...as that will become OUR IRC channel I would presume...

So, get psyched, show up tomorrow night (8-8:30 PM EST) and let's kick some ass!!!

Combat Calendar updated with latest ADL dates.  Planetary Defense battle for the planet Meacham is tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2002 at 9 PM EST.  Practice scheduled for 7-9 PM EST - Meet in IRC channel #Lyran-Alliance at 7 PM to participate !
