Description Designed as an anti-aircraft platform and long-range fire support unit, the JagerMech was intended to correct several perceived faults of the original Rifleman. While it does address the Rifleman's heat issues and limited ammunition, it does so at the cost of significant armor protection. Carrying only a miserly six tons of standard armor, the JagerMech is very vulnerable to return fire. In its favor, the long range of its autocannon, combined with the excellent Garret D2j targeting and tracking system (made famous by the Rifleman), make it a prime choice for anti-aircraft work. The range of its autocannons also allow it to engage many enemies without suffering return fire, and when stationary it is able to fire all its weapons without heat build-up.
Houses Davion and Liao field the largest numbers of JagerMechs, with House Davion being particularly fond of the design.
Armament The JagerMech mounts two pairs of Mydron autocannon; each arm is fitted with a Model C Medium Autocannon and a Model D Light Autocannon. Ammunition for these is carried in the torso, two tons for the class-5 autocannons and one ton for the class-2s, allowing for twenty full-strength volleys. The torso also mounts a pair of Magna Mk. II Medium Lasers. Ten single heat sinks dissipate waste heat generated by these weapons.
Overview The JagerMech JM6-S can carry four ballistic weapons, two in each arm, and is heavy enough to easily mount any combination of four Autocannon 2s and Autocannon 5s. Though quite similar to the Cataphract CTF-4X in terms of weight and hardpoint loadout, the JM6-S enjoys a higher top speed and high mounted weapons. Since the arm mounted weapons are actually higher than the cockpit level, a JM6-S can keep virtually all of itself hidden behind a hill and still be able to inflict most of its damage on its targets. Additionally, it can mount an Autocannon 20 in each arm since it lacks both hand and lower arm actuators.
Stock Loadout The JM6-S is able to provide constant long range ballistic fire with dual AC/5s and AC/2s. Two Medium Lasers provide for close range defense. However, armor is a miserly six tons, less than half its maximum protection.
Strengths Can carry two Autocannon 20s in the arms (All Jagermechs(JM6) can do this.) Can carry up to four small caliber ballistic weapons High mounted weapons (allows most of the Mech to hide below the ridgeline)
Weaknesses Due to the lack of lower arm actuators, the arms don't add any additional horizontal reach
Overview With six ballistic Hardpoints, the JM6-DD is the most specialized of the JagerMech line. The -DD is heavy enough to use hex Machine Guns or AC/2s, but otherwise cannot do much more than the well-rounded JagerMech JM6-S.
Stock Loadout The JM6-DD is a drastic upgrade of the design that makes use of Lostech equipment. A weight saving XL Engine and Ferro Fibrous armor free up tonnage to upgrade the weapons. Two UAC/5s double the rate of fire over standard AC/5s. Medium Pulse Lasers add additional close range punch over the standard Medium Lasers. Finally CASE is added to prevent the 'Mech from being completely destroyed by an ammo explosion.
Strengths The JM6-DD has the single most Ballistic Hardpoints on any available 'Mech.
Weaknesses A total of six ballistic Hardpoints are available at the cost of alternative energy or missile hardpoints. Additionally, it is the most expensive JagerMech due to the advanced technologies included in the stock design.
Overview The JagerMech JM6-A is the only JagerMech capable of mounting missile weapons, up to four, which allows it to effectively compete with the Catapult. A ballistic Hardpoint in each arm means it can can combine fast firing ballistic weapons with a large number of Short Range Missiles, an attribute which allows it to standout in its class.
Stock Loadout The JM6-A increases the damage output and range over the older JM6-S by swapping the Autocannon 5s for two LRM 15s. Additional armor is added as well.
Strengths The JM6-A is quite capable of being an effective missile or ballistic heavy build which gives pilots more flexibility when designing loadouts.
Weaknesses Merely average torso twist range
Overview The JM6-FB "Firebrand" Hero Mech differs from its JagerMech bretheren by swapping out Ballistic hardpoints for Energy hardpoints in the arms. Like all Hero Mechs, the Firebrand grants a 30% C-Bill bonus.
Stock Loadout JM6-FB. With a PPC mounted in each arm as well as An AC-2 and a Medium Laser in each torso. This mech is for all intent and purpose as close to a Rifleman as you can get.
Strengths No major differences to any of its other siblings other than having a balanced Energey ballistic slot in each arm.
Weaknesses Due to the lack of lower arm actuators, the arms don't add any additional horizontal reach.
