First battle report:

2V2, Terrain Control Marshes, Alistair and I.

WIN

Memorable moments: I was in a bushy D, and killed both of the enemies.
I was in a Warhammer E, Alistair in a Uziel A, Against a Uziel and a Bushwacker. They focused on me but failed to take me out, so we trounced them.
I was in a Warhammer Prime, Alistair was in a Warhammer Prime vs a Uziel and a Shadow Cat. They both focused on me again, we took them out.
I was in a Warhammer Prime and went man-to-man with an Awesome. Only the timely intervention of Alistair's Vulture SRM-Boat saved me from destruction!
I was in a Bushwacker D and left Alistair behind to engage a Uziel and a Mauler. I killed the Uziel and wounded the Mauler, then Alistair in his Thor came up and engaged the Mauler, I grabbed a Harasser as a battle taxi to join the battle and try and salvage it.

Ended up with us winning, standing around a Mauler trying to shoot down our Battle Armor.

Pictures up after next game. :)

Afterwards, we were invited by a Dev (MWLLDefender) toh elp stress test his new 32-person server. Unfortunately, only a dozen or so people responded, including us.

Second game:

Third game:

Alistair and I eventually had two Morrigus with 3 PPCs and 2 ATM-3s and twin LAMS each. NO missiles could get remotely close to us, and we had a Huit Prime on the ridge with us, providing anti-air fire. Unfortunately we lost by less than TEN POINTS. :(

We'll try a game on an unpopulated server to get you guys used to the game first. :)

Sure, Guil. So you can shoot our arms off? ;) I'll take the opportunity to try and not kill myself in an aerospace. Can't say I'm a terribly good pilot myself (compared to our illustrious Kommandant), but yeah, it takes some getting used to. Even after playing other MW games.

I can't pilot aircraft. :|

I do like shooting them down, however... ;)

Well, since ol' Guillotine couldn't make it, Lina (Banshee) and I hit up a couple of matches. on unpopulated servers. The first was a Solaris Free-for-all. I grabbed a Harasser Prime (because I'm mean like that), and Banshee nabbed an Owens Prime. We had a bit of back and forth until I turned over my dang hovertank, so I pestered Banshee with my BA for a bit, before retreating and grabbing a Harasser C (I think; the one with 6 Flamers). We continued to beat on each other until another player came in and mopped up. For some reason, I was lagging (probably due to other stuff running), so this other player kicked our butts the whole game. He even fielded a mk. II in the last minute of the game.

The next round, we found a different server (I thought my lag may have been due to the other server). This was TC on Death Valley. I decided to try out aerospace while Banshee grabbed an Osiris D (Again, I think: the one with two PPCs). I flew by a few times, but was unable to coordinate well enough for any attacks (nearly had a collision with Banshee). Anyway, after lagging a moment and crashing, I tried a VTOL with even less success (resulting in -2 for me right off the bat). Anyway, we ended up going one-on-one in light 'Mechs. I got lucky and jumped out of my 'Mech, getting in another one that had its cockpit shot out (we ended up doing that a lot, with a 'third wheel' 'Mech sitting around during our skirmishes). Then I grabbed a Demolisher Prime against Banshee's Cougar (Prime, I think) and then a Bushwacker, then I ran back and got a Fafnir Prime for the heck of it. After slinging a few Heavy Gauss slugs at Banshee's 'Mechs, we got a new player who came out and proceeded to leg my damaged Fafnir as the round was ending. Thus why my screenshot is on its side. Technically I won, but it was all fun and games, and it was a good training experience for the both of us.

(Couldn't get the pics to work, so I attached the screenshots.)

When I signed on for MW:LL training, I knew it would be a much-needed dose of humility, that my being ten years and more away from the MW games (and online gaming period) would tell against me, that my TT/MegaMek experience in the intervening would avail me little now.

What I didn't expect was that I'd accidentally punch myself out of my own 'Mech half a dozen times (I think, I kinda lost count. ^^;; ).

Long story short, my first time back was about as painful as one would expect. Every mistake I could find to make, I did...usually more than once. Fortunately, Alastair was patience incarnate, and bore with me through my teething difficulties. I actually enjoyed myself, in spite of everything, and, though I still need more more practice, I'm now feeling a bit more comfortable with the controls.

Won't be there next Wednesday (unfortunately I work every third Wednesday evening) but that'll give me tie ot experiment with the new joystick I just got inthe mail. Hopefully it'll feel a little more natural to me (and keep my hand safely away form the "Eject' button. XD )

If you're having trouble ejecting accidentally from your mech, swap your eject/enter key from F to G. :) Since I've doen that I havent ejected accidentally once! :)
